![]() Sketch paper and pencil (or drafting software)Īfter you get accurate measurements, the next step is to cut lumber to the appropriate sizes for the grid and prepare the tin tiles. If you choose this route, here’s a list of items you’ll need: ![]() The process involves a lot of pre-planning, sketching, and taking measurements to ensure the grid and tiles fit the space perfectly. ![]() Installing a tin ceiling is a fairly advanced project that may be challenging for the average homeowner to DIY. The ideal indoor humidity is 60% or below in the summer and 25% to 40% in the winter. Also, keep your home-especially the room with the metal ceiling-at a low humidity year-round. However, if you want to keep your tiles in their original state, spray on a clear rust-resistant primer or use a wire brush or sander to remove any rust that does appear. To keep a metal ceiling from rusting and needing replacement, you can apply rust-resistant paint to the tiles before installing them. If you needed to replace an entire 48-square-foot tin ceiling, that would cost somewhere between $48 to $700 to purchase new tiles. Nail-up: These attach to a grid using a nail gun.Ī 2-feet-by-2-feet tin ceiling tile costs $4 to $15 on average but can go up to as much as $60 for more high-end materials and finishes. Snap-together: These connect like a puzzle.ĭrop-in: These tiles are laid on top of a grid to fill in the spaces. Depending on the look you’re going for, there are three main types, including: The cost of tin ceiling tiles is more dependent on the material and finish of the tiles rather than the type. The average paint gallon cost is $25 to $50 and covers 300 to 400 square feet, so you will likely need to buy at least one can of paint along with supplies like a roller, roller pan, and brush. If you change the color rather than stick with the manufactured shade, you’ll have to purchase paint as well. Check the panel product details to see if you can alter the finish. Tin ceiling tiles can be purchased in various colors and painted or powder-coated to match your individual style preferences. ![]() Genuine tin ceilings or artisan-designed tiles made from more expensive metals like copper cost on the higher end at over $10 per square foot, while foam tiles designed and painted to look like plaster or metal cost as little as $1 per square foot. Drop ceiling panels are commonly constructed of not only tin, but also aluminum, copper, steel mineral fiber, foam, or PVC manufactured and coated to look like metal. These include pressed, punched, reclaimed, or faux tin panels. The tin panel type you select will factor into the overall cost of the project. Homeowners pay a pro $60 to $90 per hour on average for ceiling repair costs and $10 to $25 per square foot for professional mold removal costs. For example, if the ceiling is cracked, sagging, has water damage, or has a mold problem, you’ll have to hire a local ceiling repair contractor or mold removal service near you before you start on the installation. If the ceiling where you’re placing your tin tiles is in poor condition, there will be additional costs associated with fixing it before you can install the grid or the tin. The larger the square footage, the more you’ll pay for tiles. Ceiling Size and ConditionĪt $5.50 per square foot on average, a 48-square-foot area costs $260 for the tiles. The cost of a tin ceiling can fluctuate depending on how it’s set up, the materials you choose, and the pro you hire. Find hiring guides, material costs, expert advice, how-to's and more.

![]() Ī number of snakes from the family Viperidae (“vipers”) are medically important in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Global estimates of the incidence of snakebite suggest that over 1,800,000 people are envenomed annually, resulting in between 90,000 and 138,000 deaths. The highest burden of snakebite exists in agricultural regions of Asia (i.e., South Asia and Southeast Asia), Papua New Guinea, sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. Snakebite envenoming is an environmental, occupational, and climatic hazard that predominantly affects the rural, impoverished populations of low- and middle-income countries found in the tropics. Our findings suggest that Thai antivenoms from QSMI may by useful therapeutics for managing snake envenomings caused by a number of Southeast Asian viper species and populations for which no specific antivenom currently exists and thus should be explored further to assess their clinical utility in treating snakebite victims. rhodostoma antivenom exhibits highly comparable levels of immunological binding and in vitro venom neutralization to venom from both Thailand and Malaysia, despite previous reports of considerable intraspecific venom variation. albolabris antivenom inhibiting the venoms from Malaysian arboreal pit vipers. ![]() In vitro coagulation assays using bovine plasma revealed similar findings, with HPAV antivenom significantly inhibiting the coagulopathic activities of all tested viper venoms and T. albolabris extensively recognized toxins present in the venom of related species, T. Using ELISA and immunoblotting approaches, we find that the majority of protein components in the viper venoms were recognized and bound by the HPAV polyvalent antivenom, while the monospecific antivenom made against T. In this study, we sought to characterize the in vitro venom binding capability and in vitro cross-neutralizing activity of antivenom, specifically the Hemato Polyvalent antivenom (HPAV The Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (QSMI) of the Thai Red Cross Society, Thailand) and three monovalent antivenoms (QSMI) specific to Daboia siamensis, Calloselasma rhodostoma, and Trimeresurus albolabris venoms, against a variety of South Asian and Southeast Asian viper venoms ( Calloselasma rhodostoma, Daboia russelii, Hypnale hypnale, Trimeresurus albolabris, Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus, Trimeresurus hageni, and Trimeresurus fucatus). The intravenous administration of polyclonal antibodies known as antivenom is the only effective treatment for snakebite envenomed victims, but because of inter-specific variation in the toxic components of snake venoms, these therapies have variable efficacies against different snake species and/or different populations of the same species. Loved the idea, based on a true story, the advertising was interesting and the cast is a talented one (Jeremy Renner, Isla Fisher and John Hamm particularly have shown themselves to be more than capable in a lot of things). The end credits contain a selection of home movie clips featuring the real-life taggers in action over the years. Hoagie is a bit of an ass, and Jerry is a bit full of himself, but on the whole these are decent, likeable folk and I enjoyed their company. The story takes an unexpected twist towards the end, but it works, And, importantly, I liked these people. There are some action set pieces which are very well choreographed as well as being funny, and some fun performances, not least from Isla Fisher as Hoagie's wife, ever-so-slightly out of control. Ed Helms' air of an everyman teetering on the edge is ideal for the role of Hoagie, pushing hard for the group to tag Jerry, and Jeremy Renner has huge fun as Jerry, supremely self-confident because he is, in fact, far better at this than the other 4 combined. Until you find out that it is based on the activity of a group of 10 real-life friends. This is a great idea, but very very silly. And Jerry has never been tagged, and time is running out. 5 men devote every May to playing Tag, something which they have been doing since they were kids. And though ceramic material does heat evenly, we couldn’t feel a difference in the heat coming from the dryers we tested with ceramic coils versus those made with other materials. Any heating element in a dryer gets the heat to your head via the blowing air. ![]() (Many space heaters also employ ceramic elements.) But the engineers we spoke to were skeptical that this component makes much of a difference in drying hair: Radiant heat isn’t really helpful “unless you expect to direct the heat far from the dryer,” said Shapiro, such as if you were trying to use a dryer to heat a room for some reason. Ceramic material does heat up faster and radiate heat more evenly than iron or nickel. All hair dryers work by heating up an element, such as a metal coil, and then blowing air over it, carrying the heat to your head.
